JULIANA JIMENEZ VELANDIA
Founder of Convergencia Latin America

Juliana is a Colombian climate professional with over eight years of experience in climate action implementation, peacebuilding, and ecosystem protection. As an EPOS-DAAD scholar, awarded by the German government, she holds dual master's degrees in Natural Resources Management and Development from TH Köln University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and an MSc. Environmental Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí (Mexico). She also has a specialization in Environmental Management and Community Development from CEMIL University (Colombia) and a Bachelor's in Environmental Engineering from El Bosque University (Colombia). In 2020, she was honored as an Environmental Promoter by the Ministry of Environment of Colombia.
 

In 2024, she was named Colombia’s Youth Delegate by the Global Centre for Climate Mobility, and one of seven Latin American representatives at COP29 in Azerbaijan. That same year, she was chosen as a scholar for the prestigious SCENE Summer Program at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, University of Oxford. There, she worked alongside global climate leaders to develop policy recommendations for G20 heads of state at the T20 Summit in Brazil. She serves on the Youth Advisory Council at The Human Impacts Institute in New York, advocating for youth empowerment in climate action.
 

Juliana has collaborated with organizations like C40 Cities, the UNFCCC, and the Colombian government, working alongside local stakeholders, grassroots communities, and environmental leaders in the field. Her work focuses on mobilizing political and financial momentum for climate action across Latin America.
